The 5th Biennial New England Industrial Woodworking Expo scheduled for May 2 & 3, 2008, Friday 9 am - 5 pm & Saturday 9 am - 4 pm, is the most important woodworking event in the region this year. This will be the first CMA get together held in Northern California. It is being modeled after some of the other successful CMA meetings around the country. This will be an informal get together of CMA members and anyone else that might be interested in becoming a member.

On the agenda: a representative from Blum, Decorative-Specialties, and Charles McMurray Company (a Northern California hardware distributor). There will be a ShopBot CNC demonstration at a local one man cabinet shop (five minutes away). Also during the day will be time for lots of networking. Coffee and Muffins will be provided in the morning and pizza and sodas for lunch.

This event will take place at 8:00AM on Friday, May 9th at Bob Goeb's shop located in Wilton, CA. (Sacramento area). Please RSVP ahead of time so we can plan the food accordingly.

This is the big bi-annual tradeshow event. Four days of exhibits, education, and networking opportunities. If you have never been to this show, don't miss this one.

The CMA will be hosting several shop tours for its members on Tuesday, August 19th. The tours will include:
Georgia Tech School of Architecture
Osborne Wood Products
and at least one other cabinet shop.

If you are a CMA member, see the IWF Atlanta posting on the forum. If you are not a member, we invite you to join the CMA, and join us on the tour the day before the show, AND the roundtable dinner held one evening during the show. Space is limited for the tour, so the earlier the better!

OGB Architectural Millwork

Albuquerque, NM

Mark your calendars now for the first South West Regional meeting on October 17 & 18, 2008. This meeting will take place at OGB Architectural Millwork, Albuquerque, NM.

This 2 day event will include 2 shop tours the morning of the 17th, followed by an Associate sponsored lunch. The afternoon will be dedicated to 3 seminars: Rick Thaler on Commercial Estimating/Sales, Jim Falk on Soft Variables, and Scott Nelson on the AWI cost book. Friday night will include a dinner and a roundtable discussion. 

Saturday morning the 18th, Bob Buckley will present his seminar on Lean Flow Manufacturing. Associate sponsored lunch. The afternoon is left free for a round of golf or other activities.

There is plenty of reasonable lodging close by and Rick's shop is close to the airport for easy travel.
