Category – Architectural Millwork Over $25K
Project Description – Components included curved teller line and light valence lobby furnishings, 72’ slab doored cabinetry, 24- pre-hung passage doors, 22’ balcony with laminated cap rail. Our biggest challenges were wrapping the curved steel beam above the teller line and installing the second floor wall paneling and trim to work with the reclaimed beams. Unusual Aspects – This has been our most comprehensive project to date. In addition to the millwork we were responsible for the stonework, stairs and flooring. The client went through a number of specie options before settling on alder millwork and reclaimed yellow pine flooring. Why I like the CMA – This group is self selecting for forward thinking, extremely independent entrepreneurs who combine those traits with a high level of skilled craftsmanship. This gives us a combined knowledge base that is tremendous relative to our size. The completely unselfish attitude of members who are willing to take time out of their day to solve each other’s problems by sharing their hard-earned knowledge always amazes me. The CMA is the antithesis of the me-first culture that prevails in too many aspects of our lives. Whenever I’ve had a tough day and need to be reminded why I got into this business in the first place, I can log onto the CMA Forum and be recharged with my fellow member’s humor, knowledge, and sharing attitude. |
