Rivendell Woodworks (Concord, CA)
Category – Kitchen European Over $25K
Project Description – Major production equipment included the Altendorf F45 sliding table saw, SawStop table saw, Butfering Optimat sander-planer, Holzher 1402 edgebander, Castle line boring machine, Blum minipress, a shop-built CNC, and various hand power tools.Working out the details of the angles on the island in order to fit appliances, including two refrigerators, a dishwasher and microwave, was critical. Coordinating with electrician, plumber, countertop and flooring subs was also important.
Unusual Aspects – Integrating modern design of full-overlay European style with traditional onlays and mouldings was important, as was coordinating with the leaded glass artisan to blend with our work. We also designed and built the breakfast nook table in the same style as the rest of the kitchen.
Why I like the CMA – The opportunity to interact with others in our profession, attend gatherings to share insights and offer each other encouragement is extremely valuable.
