Main Category: Entertainment Center
Sub Category: Face Frame Dollar Amount: Under $25,000 Briefly describe your business and the type of products manufactured. I design, construct, finish and install custom cabinetry. All cabinetry is constructed with plywood and solid hardwoods. The type of cabinetry includes: kitchens, vanities, bars, entertainment centers, bookcases and other furniture What materials/species were used in this project/item? This project was constructed out of paint grade maple, maple and or white birch plywood. The molding used was poplar. The mirror’s in the doors went through an antiquing process. Describe, in detail, the project/item’s construction. This free standing unit was design to increase the closet space for the master bedroom and incorporate a TV and divided drawers. The center unit had to have pocket doors to hide the TV and keep the look of the rest of the unit. The large doors are difficult to inset and align. The closets on each side of the TV have lights in them which come on automatically when you open the door. Also since the doors where mirrored and needed to be opened often, we placed a finished panel over the back of the mirror to give it a finished look. What is the most unusual aspect or outstanding characteristic of this entry? The special part of this project is the size with all the details. The “X” on the mirrored doors, the inset doors and drawer fronts, the complete function of the unit, dresser, pocket doors for the TV, lit closet space, free standing with simple feet. The unit overall is almost 12′ wide and 9′ 3″ tall. List any items that were outsourced (not produced by you or your shop). The unit was drawn on KCD based on the originally designed by Amy Morris of Amy D Morris interiors. The doors where ordered custom to my specifications and supplied by Harris Door and Drawer. The molding – crown, bead for inset frames, panel molding – was purchase from Pierce and Pierce Millwork. We fabricated all other parts, constructed, finished and installed the unit. The hinges and drawer slides where Bum. All accessories – hinges and slides, closet rods, lighting from HGH Hardware.
