Sub Category: Face Frame
Dollar Amount: Under $25,000

Briefly describe your business and the type of products manufactured.
Redesign kitchen cabinetry, new island, new window placement. A wall was removed next to the refrigerator to allow more space in the corner next to Viking range and for the lockers in the hallway. The cabinetry is constructed out of all plywood and solid wood components, drawer box’s are dovetailed with KV MUV soft close under mount slides. The door hinges are Blummotion soft close. The corner pullout is the LaMans system from Richelieu. The double trash can pullout is from Revashelf with Blummotion. The upper cabinets where deeper than normal as well per customers request.

What materials/species were used in this project/item?
This kitchen is rustic hickory with 1/2″ overlay doors. The finish is a Valspar water-based conversion varnish.

Describe, in detail, the project/item’s construction.
The overall design was a beaded face-frame with inset doors and drawer fronts. The island because of the layout was full overlay. The island design was difficult in that there needed to be a seating area without having a break in the side panels and on one side the panel had to incorporate a trash can pullout with a door. Also in the island was the required electrical outlets a round outlet with a cover was installed on the face with the cover being finished to match the island.
Another difficult part of the project was the addition of the lockers in the hall way to the right of the paneled refrigerator. Not only was the refrigerator paneled but there was a cabinet above the refrigerator and all the side panels and doors on the locker had to line up with the refrigerator cabinet. In the first locker was the access for the water for the refrigerator which required a removable panel for access to the connection and cut off.

What is the most unusual aspect or outstanding characteristic of this entry?
There where several characteristics that make this job special: 1- The detail of the job, inset doors and drawer fronts; 2 – The alignment of the refrigerator cabinet around to the hall panels and locker doors; 3 – The trash can pullout had to have the door incorporated into the side panel of the island and function as well as the storage area in the seating side of the island needed to look like all doors when only two of the three where actually usable.

List any items that were outsourced (not produced by you or your shop).
The counter-tops where outsourced by Granite-By-Design, Duluth Ga. The doors,
drawer fronts, and drawer box’s where custom ordered to my specification from Harris Door and Drawer in Buford Ga. Accessories where ordered from HGH Hardware and Richelieu.

Please offer a brief explanation of how being a member of the CMA has benefited you and/or your business.
The forums have been helpful. I am still new and learning the benefits. I did do some research on insurance that was helpful also. I just believe in supporting a group that has a common interest and desire to promote our trade and skills.
