Describe, in detail, the project/item’s construction. The project was part of a complete, whole house renovation that encompassed a complete overhaul, not only in space, but in style of the residence. The customers were a couple of well experienced and seasoned architects who not only knew exactly the look they were going for, but had a very discerning eye for detail. This project encompassed several challenges – to fully understand the the look, while in overall appearance is simple yet challenging to understand the components and to execute functional cabinetry seamlessly while adhering to the overall streamlined design concept. Natural Sapele became the choice wood which would become an overall design feature to complement the style and design. What is the most unusual aspect or outstanding characteristic of this entry? Understanding the intricacy and converting that into functional cabinetry was challenging and took several mock-ups in the shop to insure the finished product would install correctly in the field and be the “vision” of the owners. Accommodating and integrating depths and waterfall ends of the quartz countertops required careful and decisive planning. Another challenge was how to safely integrate the commercial grade Teppanyaki grill while keeping the overall design aesthetically pleasing. The grill bears an enormous amount of weight and while in use reaches temperatures in excess of 500 degrees and is designed and intended to be a freestanding. To further complicate cabinetry construction, the actual unit had little with regard to specifications and arrived only a few days prior to cabinetry installation, but had to be precise in execution to maintain the overall look.
