What materials/species were used in this project/item?
The Carmel Wine Room was constructed using White Oak solids and formaldehyde free sheet goods.
Reclaimed wine barrel heads with cooperage stamps up for the counter top.
Describe, in detail, the project/item’s construction.We use standard woodworking machinery, mortise and tenon joinery with dowel rod supports for bottles. Steam bent curved corners. Epilog laser machine to engrave numbers and quotes.
What is the most unusual aspect or outstanding characteristic of this entry?A unique aspect of this room was adding lasered in famous wine quotes to the face of the upper racks and along the edge of the countertop. This took some planning an aligning especially to the barrel top edges of the counter so we can align the quotes on the individual edge pieces. Laser in numbers under the bottles or inventory purposes.

The center art work was done by fellow artist Phil Whalen. Room remodel and tile floor by contractor, some steam bending by specialized company, Racking was unfinished to avoid VOC’s in a closed conditioned room.
