Beetle Kill Pine North American Maple Describe, in detail, the project/item's construction This project was built using locally sourced and kiln dried Beetle Kill Pine and Rustic Alder for the exterior. The cabinet interiors are made from a textured melamine. It is a rustic shaker style entertainment center with modern amenities such as automated “clamshell” doors to hide a television when not in use and low voltage lighting integrated throughout. It is comprised of frameless cabinetry with applied cope and pattern end panels. The finish is a two tone look with the Beetle Kill Pine being a clear finish with a glaze and the Alder being painted black with a sandthru. The drawer boxes are solid maple dovetails and utilize Blum undermount slides. All of the functional hardware has Blumotion soft-close. A few other design elements are the seedy glass doors, architectural speaker frills, and tongue & groove bead board. What is the most unusual aspect or outstanding characteristic of this entry? The two most outstanding features of this piece are both material and function. Beetle Kill Pine was sourced from the Rocky Mountain region making this a truly Colorado-made piece and it has an automated door feature to elegantly display or hide electronics.
