Rustic Walnut Maple Melamine Describe, in detail, the project/item's construction The homeowners partnered with us to complete the cabinetry in their whole custom home. The vision for the kitchen included a strong rustic style with contrasting finishes. The cabinetry was built using Rustic Black Walnut with a stain + glazed finish, offset with the island in Rustic Alder in cream paint including a distressed, hand sand-thru finish. Many features are built-in to the cabinets, notably a full extension/soft-close Lemans II corner base unit, dual spice rack storage units behind the furniture legs framing the range, touch control Servo-Drive doors at corner appliance garage tower cabinets, a remote automated drop down television located inside an upper cabinet, and integrated low-voltage LED lighting throughout. There is a lot of natural light in this kitchen, I did not want the cabinets to appear too “heavy” given the darker complexion of walnut, I chose to break up the design with multiple glass doors overlaid with wood mullions. Simple changes in depth and height of the upper cabinets add complexity to the design in addition to furniture-style toe kick details and millwork paneling on the base cabinets. What is the most unusual aspect or outstanding characteristic of this entry? The homeowners were interested to sit and eat at their island while watching the evening news or a game on TV, but the TV nearest to the kitchen is on an inconvenient location for this. So we integrated a remote automated 26” flat screen TV into the upper cabinet to the right of the range. With the push of a button, an actuating arm lowers the TV into view. The cabinet itself is 17” deep overall, so there is still practical storage inside. There is a false panel allowing access to a rear cavity for the TV pocket inside the cabinet, in front of this are three shallow adjustable shelves, perfect for storing coffee, tea, or other smaller items. When finished, they can use the remote to put the TV back up into the cabinet and out of sight. How has being a member of the CMA benefited you and/or your business?
