Describe, in detail, the project/item's construction
These clients wanted to recreate the look of a kitchen they had in a previous home while adding some modern conveniences and additional storage space. An important priority was the Face-Frame Flush Inset cabinet construction, this is a timeless look which stands out in any design. There are two different painted finishes employed here, both generated as a custom match. We used a reverse-raised flat panel door style which emphasizes the elegant simplicity of the design. On either side of the range, we built in spice rack units which at first glance appear to be standard hinged doors, but slide out horizontally to offer adjustable shelves for storage. Millwork paneling was used above the range with an integrated hood appliance behind the sloping arch detail. Subtle arches were mirrored throughout the design in the crown molding, furniture style toe kicks, and corbels on the island. We also fabricated the black walnut end-grain butcher block island counter top. This was a key feature for the family as they intend to use the butcher block for a practical prep area, so it was finished using only food-grade mineral oil.

What is the most unusual aspect or outstanding characteristic of this entry?
Attention to detail! The arches and clean lines throughout make for a stunning presence. The curved lines start near the floor with a furniture toe, up through the hood, open cabinet valences and to the ceiling in the cove crown molding. The clean lines are highlighted throughout as well from island panels to door style. Overall the combination of these subtle designs that together highlight the most custom portion of the kitchen, the 8’ end grain walnut butcher block top on the beverage island.
