Describe, in detail, the project/item's construction
All cabinet fabrication & finishing was completed in our shop. Our maple was provided by Hardwoods, Inc in Hagerstown MD. We mill our own trim on a Shop Fox 7" mini moulder. Our cabinet boxes & face frames were provided by a contact we made through the CMA, Cabinotch. We fabricate our doors & drawer fronts utilizing two 3-HP spindle shapers as well as a 1.5HP spindle shaper for coping and joints. We fabricate our own 3/4" solid maple drawer boxes with Kreg-Forman pocket hole joinery. We go through a rigerous sanding process using a 24" drum sander, 6" oscillating edge sander, 1.5HP oscillating spindle sander and final hand sanding with a Festool random orbit sander & dust extraction system. We finished the cabinetry in our newly enlarged finishing room utilizing ML Campbell pre-cat water based products. Our glaze is custom tinted and hand applied with an artist's brush. All cabinetry & trim was installed by us.
What is the most unusual aspect or outstanding characteristic of this entry?
We incorporated the transom windows into the mirror framing for a cohesive and finished piece of built in millwork. We incorporated the vanity lights into the transom millwork for a clean, yet functional look. Visual depth was added by finishing this creamy white cabinetry with an uncommon soft white glaze, hand applied for a gentle softness that complements the white Quartz countertops. The furniture styling is classic and will stand the test of time while providing ample storage for everyday use.
How has being a member of the CMA benefited you and/or your business?
We look forward to receiving the quarterly publication. The articles are both informative and entertaining. We enjoy reading about other professionals in the industry and have developed new partnerships with some of your advertisers that we otherwise may have never known. We have a passion for woodworking and have found that the CMA has fueled that passion.
