Describe, in detail, the project/item's construction
The homeowners were introduced to us after returning from a trip to Ireland and the United Kingdom. During their travels, they had enjoyed the comforts and antiquity of several pubs and restaurants which drove their inspiration for this project. They wanted to create the look and feel of an authentic Old World Irish Pub for their basement remodel. They brought us pictures of their favorite locations which included details in the woodwork and panel style that appealed to them. After discussing many options and ideas, I created a design which they were excited about. It included a simple beveled edge raised-panel door style, an elevated canopy featuring custom stained glass panels and 7” turned columns, a coffered/beam ceiling featuring tin panels back-lit with LED lighting, and additional options throughout. The homeowners wanted a prominent feature in the bar to be the corbel details at each front column. They requested a griffin but were not enamored of any pre-fabricated options. We ended up sourcing a local artist to hand-carve these details from specifically sized white oak blanks which we provided and then finished them to match. The design wrapped the entirety of the basement with the bar/pub area at one end and a customized entertainment center at the other. Total time frame was about eight months from introductory design discussions to full onsite installation and completion.

What is the most unusual aspect or outstanding characteristic of this entry?
The authenticity of this project is its greatest feature, the design and woodworking that went into this piece originated from our clients desire to recreate an authentic Irish pub.
