North American Maple Rustic Knotty Alder Maple Interior Baltic Birch Describe, in detail, the project/item's construction Built in a historic part of Denver’s Cherry Creek District alongside many 100+ year-old homes, the vision for this project was to achieve a classical look inside the home as a tribute to the surrounding neighborhood. The interior finishes, particularly the cabinetry, communicate a sense of vintage class throughout. The style is somewhat traditional, but with an appeal to current finishes and design details which depict a common narrative in each room. I met with the homeowner and the home builder on multiple occasions in our design studio. They provided architectural plans and we discussed the types of cabinetry, millwork and finishes they envisioned for the home. Over the course of several months, we exchanged emails and pictures during the design process to refine the look the homeowner was aiming for in each of many rooms. What is the most unusual aspect or outstanding characteristic of this entry? In the kitchen, a priority for the homeowner was the range wall hood surround which includes raised panel details, two-step crown moulding, and a custom mantelpiece. The painted and glazed finish of the cabinetry in this area makes a grand statement and is set apart from the rest of the kitchen which was done in a darker stained wood. There are two islands in the kitchen, both including large, lathe-turned furniture legs. Adjacent to the kitchen is a Butler Pantry with a window to the exterior. Cabinets with glass shelves and glass panel doors were custom made to overlay the window allowing natural light into the room and highlighting an elegant collection of dishware.
