Dollar Amount: Under $25,000 Briefly describe your business and the type of products manufactured. I operate and own a custom cabinet shop. We manufacture residential and commercial cabinets, millwork, solid surface and wood countertops. I also build furniture, beds, vanities, etc. What materials/species were used in this project/item? I used soft maple for the doors, face frames, and drawers. The cabinet boxes were constructed of prefinished solid plywood. Describe, in detail, the project/item's construction All of the cabinet doors are mitered raised panel construction. The cabinet boxes are all prefinished 3/4" plywood with 1/2" backs. All end panels have door panels on them. I used a Valspar Zenith waterborne finish on all doors. All drawers are solid soft maple 3/4" dovetail with a 3/8" Baltic bottom. Doors and drawers are soft close. The drawers have Blum undermount slides. All of the doors, drawers, face frames, legs, were made and finished at our shop. What is the most unusual aspect or outstanding characteristic of this entry? The home owners and I designed the cabinets. The home owners wanted all of the stair legs to match the island legs. And the color the kitchen cabinets to match the trim. So I made all of their trim and finished their interior doors so there was consistency throughout the home. How has being a member of the CMA benefited you and/or your business? I am able to research a lot throughout the forums. I like to learn about experiences other cabinetmakers go through and what worked for them. List any items that were outsourced. None |
