Describe the project, what makes it unusual, and/or any outstanding characteristics.
This Kitchen was built for a custom spec home in West Loveland, Colorado. It featured a matching walk in pantry, a 3 level eat in Island, and a 14’ buffet for the adjacent dining room. Rustic Knotty Alder was finished in 3 different finishes that all worked together. Rusted metal corrugated steel panels were used to accent the island foot shelf and the wood hood surround. A hand peeled Beetle Kill Pine log was incorporated as a support into the 7’ long, Hard White Maple baking center portion of the Island. The birch drawers were assembled by using a flush exposed walnut tenon mortised in with a Festool Domino machine. Each of the 28 Drawers in the kitchen area were individually lit when opened with integrated low voltage Hafele LOOX LED lighting. Hafele LOOX lighting was also used to light the undercabinet space and the Toekick areas with a hand-held, zoned remote control. Blum Aventos HF lifts were featured in the upper cabinets with touch activated servo drive assists. A Rev-a-Shelf mixer lift was incorporated into the Island along with several drawer inserts. A servo drive Double Rollout was also featured for trash and recycling. Fourteen individual lift up glass doors around the top of the 10’ high upper cabinets were individually lit with LED puck lights and opened with Blum Aventos HK-XS lifts. The frameless cabinetry boxes had a combination of Hard Rock Maple Wood Grain, Almond and Black melamine interiors. A 3” thick sandstone section of the island was hand chiseled on site by our multi-skilled woodworkers to cap off the raised eating portion of the Island. Alder Beadboard accented portions of the island backs. During construction of this spec home, we were in between shops. This entire kitchen, with all of it’s parts and pieces, was hand-made and finished with minimal wood working equipment on site in the home’s attached 3 car garage!
