I’ve noticed this year that many of our members are really busy, while others need more work. Both of these situations can bring stress, and it struck me recently that being a CMA member has important advantages during both the “feast” and “famine” phases of running a business:
IF YOU’RE BUSY: MAKE TIME TO CONNECT. Learn how you can streamline your business. Use the online forums to ask questions about your processes, inquire about new technology prior to a purchase, and simply bounce your ideas off of others. Make time to attend our events to network in person and see other shops and learn how they operate. Even a single “take-way” could save you hours and dollars. Share your workload with others. Use the forums to ask for help if you are too busy to keep up. CMA members are happy to job-share when needed. IF YOU AREN’T BUSY: MAKE CONNECTING A MAJOR FOCUS. Reach out via the forums and let fellow members know you’re willing to help out with their projects. While you have extra time on your hands, use that time to focus on growing your business. Participate in events. Network with other members and visit other shops to get ideas that will benefit your business. MOUNTAIN TIME And speaking of events, you don’t want to miss our 20th Anniversary Conference next March. This will not be your typical association meeting – we promise to deliver an exceptional experience that will both educate and inspire you. The conference will be held in Denver March 1-2, and we’ve chosen a theme that’s very much in keeping with this beautiful city in the Rockies: Elevate. Join us to find out how you and your business can soar to new heights with the CMA. ONE MORE REASON TO ATTEND? We’ve made it affordable. The registration fee for this two-day event is only $100 for general members (and that includes meals, too). For more information and to register, please visit: www.cabinetmakers.org/denver. We also have a special offer for non-members, and we hope you’ll spread the word: Non-members will get a one-year CMA membership as part of their registration, which will provide them with a great opportunity to get to know our community and see what they’ve been missing. CMA members often tell me that they wish they had known about the association sooner, so I hope you’ll help me get the word out about this special opportunity to get two great experiences for the price of one!
