2026 Wood Diamond Award Kitchen: Frameless (71+ linear feet) Colorado Cabinet Makers Third Place

Colorado Cabinet Makers is a small custom cabinet shop located in Loveland, Colorado. James & Tracey, the owners, along with Sterling and Holly handle the business and design. In the shop 11 talented and dedicated woodworkers make the sawdust and the magic. Colorado Cabinet Makers control most of the installations to keep quality control of the projects. Very little is outsourced while creating a wide variety of quality residential cabinetry and millwork. James has been a member of the Cabinet Makers Association for many years.

Describe your project, what makes it unusual, and/or any outstanding characteristics.

This kitchen was designed and created for Brad & Mindy in Timnath, Colorado. The customers selected American Black Walut in a natural finish and Uniboard TLF Sheer Linen. The two materials couldn’t be more different from one another but work together well to complement each other beautifully. The TFL used for most of the perimeter cabinetry provided cost savings over the solid walnut and grain matched walnut veneers. Using a minimalist tab pull throughout kept the focus on the walnut grain and the sheer linen textures. The stove and sink wall has an uninterrupted 27’ run of cabinetry that flows directly into a fully equipped, cabinet filled matching pantry. They received the “longest run of cabinets award” for the year! The beverage center features glass doors with adjustable glass shelving, Blum Aventos HK door lifts, Hafele LOOX under cabinet and interior cabinet LED lighting, 3” thick floating shelves and a small trash rollout. The Island has back storage cabinetry with touch latch opening hardware. 3/8” thick by 4” wide metal countertop supports were routed into the top of the cabinetry to support the quartz overhang properly. The functional hardware throughout is Blum Tandems and soft close Blum hinges.
