2026 Wood Diamond Award Residential: Other Colorado Cabinet Makers First Place

Colorado Cabinet Makers is a small custom cabinet shop located in Loveland, Colorado. James & Tracey, the owners, along with Sterling and Holly handle the business and design. In the shop 11 talented and dedicated woodworkers make the sawdust and the magic. Colorado Cabinet Makers control most of the installations to keep quality control of the projects. Very little is outsourced while creating a wide variety of quality residential cabinetry and millwork. James has been a member of the Cabinet Makers Association for many years.

Describe your project, what makes it unusual, and/or any outstanding characteristics.

Heather and her husband moved into a fairly new custom home in Timnath, Colorado. The home was complete with nice cabinetry, but she had one idea she wanted to add. The lower level had an extra bedroom that she wanted her dream reading nook in. She contracted Colorado Cabinet Makers to design and build something unique and fun where she could have a place to read and play guitar. She wanted something that would be one of a kind, fun, yet cozy and inspirational. The resulting design was certainly fun and would definitely be the only one in the neighborhood! The bookcase/daybed took weeks to come together in the shop. To complicate the build, it had to come apart into manageable sized parts to fit down the stairs at the home. Hafele LOOX lighting added to the warm feel of the finished, one of a kind work of art!
