2026 Wood Diamond Award Kitchen: Face Frame (40-70 linear feet) William's Handcrafted First Place

Founded in 2016, William's Handcrafted is a luxury custom cabinet shop in Richmond, VA. Our team of 4 produces exceptional casework for discerning clients. We design, build, finish and install most of our own work. While we will work with contractors and designers, most of our business is direct to consumer. Most of our projects involve cabinets and another trade like electrical, plumbing, countertops, etc. As a licensed contractor, we are one of the only firms in the area that can provide a one stop solution of our clients cabinetry and remodeling projects. 

Describe your project, what makes it unusual, and/or any outstanding characteristics.

This muted yellow kitchen was an opportunity to give a woman her dream kitchen. Designed in a more cottage core style, the detailing helps create a more cozy, chic feeling. Most of the detail in this project focused on the appliances. To start, we fabricated a custom hood in house to provide a seamless elevation for the crown molding. The Designer Series Sub-Zero was specifically designed to fell taller with an extra height door to tie in seamlessly with the adjacent pantry. A flush Wolf microwave drawer fits perfectly in the island. Even counter top appliances we taken into account. The lift up, pocket back doors feature a concealed safety switch which only allows the coffee maker or toaster to be powered when the door is open. This prevents hot appliances from accidentally building up heat behind a closed door.
